Repair or Replace?
We start every Clarksdale estimate by checking the existing walls closely. Repairs make sense when:
- Damage is limited to a few boards or one elevation
- The wall behind is dry and solid
- Matching material is available
Replacement makes more sense when rot is widespread, paint no longer holds, boards have split and cupped or the old siding hides moisture problems that need fixing. We will show you what we find and let you decide.
Materials for Open Delta Exposure
- Fiber cement siding handles sun, wind and humidity well and keeps a painted-wood look that suits older homes.
- Heavier-gauge vinyl with reinforced nail hems resists wind better than thin builder-grade panels.
- Lighter colors reflect more heat and fade less in full sun.
- Aluminum or PVC trim stays straight and paint-free.
More Than Siding
An exterior remodel often includes soffit and fascia replacement, new gutters, porch repairs and exterior painting on trim, doors and shutters. On some houses, careful painting of sound wood siding is the right call instead of re-siding. See our Clarksdale exterior painting page for that route.
How the Project Runs
- Free consultation with photos and measurements
- Written proposal with material choices, colors and scope
- Tear-off, sheathing repair, weather barrier and flashing
- New siding and trim installation
- Cleanup, magnetic nail sweep and walkthrough
The siding installation itself typically takes three to seven days, depending on the size of the home. Learn more on our Clarksdale siding installation page.
Built for Wind-Driven Rain
Delta storms push rain sideways, which tests every joint in the wall. That is why we focus on the layers behind the siding: a continuous weather barrier, sill pans under windows and kick-out flashing where roofs meet walls. Those details keep water out even when it gets past the siding itself. We also fasten panels and trim to the manufacturer's high-wind guidance where it applies, so edges and corners stay put when gusts sweep across open fields.
Common Questions
Can you match the wood siding on my older home?
In many cases, yes. Common profiles are still milled, and we can replace damaged sections to blend with the rest of the house before painting.
Is fiber cement a good fit for historic-looking homes?
Yes. Smooth fiber cement lap siding with appropriate trim widths looks very much like traditional painted wood from the street.
How do I know if my old siding is hiding moisture?
Warning signs include paint that blisters soon after repainting, soft spots near the ground, musty smells inside along exterior walls and stains below windows. During our inspection we probe suspect areas and, if needed, remove a board to look at the sheathing.
Do you travel to Clarksdale from Oxford?
Yes. Clarksdale and the surrounding Coahoma County area are part of our regular North Mississippi service area.
