A Ten-Minute Walk-Around You Can Do
- From the yard, use binoculars to scan each slope for missing, curled or cracked shingles.
- Look at gutter outlets and splash blocks for piles of granules.
- Check fascia boards and the edges of the roof for peeling paint, staining or soft wood.
- Inside, look at upstairs ceilings and closet corners for stains.
- If you can safely enter the attic, look for damp insulation, dark stains on the decking or daylight.
Please stay off the roof itself; a fall is not worth the information.
Reading the Warning Signs
- A single stain under a chimney or vent often points to a flashing or boot problem, which is usually repairable.
- Granules everywhere and bare spots suggest shingles near the end of their life.
- Rotted fascia and decking at the eaves can mean water has been backing up from clogged gutters or missing drip edge.
- Many small issues on a roof about 20 years old usually add up to replacement.

Repair or Replace: Our Recommendation
After an inspection, we tell you which category your roof falls into and why, with photos. If a repair will do, we quote it. If replacement is warranted, we remove the old roof to the deck, rebuild damaged areas, install leak barrier, underlayment, drip edge and flashing, then new shingles or metal, usually in one to three days. See our Water Valley shingle installation page for product options.
Insurance Help After a Storm
When wind or hail is behind the damage, we document it thoroughly and can attend the adjuster's inspection. Your policy determines what is paid, but a well-documented roof is easier to evaluate. Our Water Valley storm damage page explains the steps.
Common Questions
I found a shingle in my yard. Is that an emergency?
One missing shingle is not usually an emergency, but it exposes the underlayment and should be replaced soon, especially before heavy rain. It is also worth checking whether others nearby have loosened.
Do you offer roof repair in Water Valley?
Yes. We repair shingles, flashing, vent boots and rotted decking or fascia when the rest of the roof is in good shape.
Can you help with my insurance claim?
We document storm damage with photos and notes and can meet your adjuster on site. Coverage is decided by your insurer under your policy.
How many days will a Water Valley replacement take?
Most homes are done in one to three days, depending on size, pitch and how much decking needs to be replaced.
