Capacity: Matching Gutter to Roof
Each gutter run drains a section of roof, and gutter capacity has to match it. The bigger and steeper that section, the faster water arrives. We size each run based on the roof area it serves and the pitch, and we look for spots where valleys concentrate water. When a run is close to its limit, we add another downspout or move up to 6-inch seamless gutters.
Hangers and Weight
A full gutter holding water and wet leaves is heavy. We fasten hidden hangers into solid fascia about every two feet, which is closer than many installers space them. That keeps long runs from bowing or tilting forward in a downpour. Old spike-and-ferrule fasteners loosen over time, so we replace them when we do a repair.
Downspout Placement and Discharge
- We use wide 3x4 downspouts where volume is high, because they clog less often.
- We place outlets so no run has to carry water too far.
- We add extensions or buried lines so discharge drains away from the foundation and planting beds.
- We avoid draining onto driveways or walkways where water could freeze or create a slick spot.
Our Inspection Workflow
- Measure each eave and figure out roof area and pitch.
- Check the fascia, drip edge and soffit for moisture damage.
- Look for erosion and overflow staining under the current gutters.
- Lay out the gutter sizes, outlets and guard options in a written proposal.
Warning signs that you need this inspection include peeling fascia paint, a trench in the soil below the eave, and gutters that overflow in moderate rain. Our guide to gutter replacement signs covers more.

Common Questions
How often should I clean my gutters in Sardis?
Twice a year is the usual baseline. Wooded lots may need cleaning after each major leaf or needle drop unless guards are installed.
What makes seamless gutters better?
Continuous runs remove most of the joints where leaks start, and they stay straighter under load. That works well with close hanger spacing.
Do you offer gutter guards?
Yes. We install rigid mesh guards that keep debris out while letting heavy rain through, fitted to your gutter size and roof edge.
Can you repair my existing gutters?
Yes. We reseal joints, add or replace hangers, re-pitch runs, swap damaged sections and repair fascia. If the system is undersized, we'll tell you.
How long does gutter installation take?
Most homes are completed in about a day. Fascia repairs or extensive downspout drainage work can add time.
