Concrete pavers
Individual units set on a compacted base with sand-filled joints. They flex with minor ground movement, come in many colors and patterns and can be lifted and reset for repairs.
Stamped concrete
A poured slab patterned and colored to resemble stone or brick. It usually costs less than pavers for large areas but needs control joints and periodic resealing, and cracks are harder to hide.
Natural stone
Flagstone, bluestone and similar stones give a one-of-a-kind look. They are typically the most expensive option and need careful setting to stay level.

Permeable pavers are another option, letting water soak through joints into a stone reservoir below.
