What We Look at During the Visit
We start with a walk around the outside of the house, noting siding type, trim condition and any signs of water staining below windows or around doors. Inside, we open and close each unit, check locks and balances, and look for condensation damage on sills. We also ask how each room is used, since a bedroom, a kitchen over the sink and a sunroom may each call for different window styles or glass.
How We Measure for a Custom Fit
Each opening is measured in several places, width at the top, middle and bottom and height at both sides and the center, because older houses are rarely perfectly square. We use the smallest dimension to size the unit so it fits without forcing. Those measurements, plus notes on wall depth and trim, go straight to the manufacturer for custom windows built for your house.
Choices You'll Make
- Window style for each opening (double-hung, casement, sliding, picture)
- Frame material and interior and exterior colors
- Glass package, including low-E and any privacy or noise options
- Grille pattern and hardware finish
- Entry or patio door style, glass and lockset
We bring samples so you can decide in your own light.
What a Good Written Quote Includes
Your window replacement estimate should list every opening with its product, size and options; specify insert or full-frame installation; explain how rot or framing repair will be handled and priced; describe interior and exterior trim work; include removal and disposal; and state how workmanship and manufacturer warranties are documented. If a competing quote leaves any of these out, ask why.

Common Questions
Can I get prices on more than one material?
Yes. We often price two options, such as vinyl and fiberglass, on the same estimate so you can compare cost and features side by side.
Do your products improve energy efficiency?
Yes. The windows and doors we install use insulated low-E glass and modern weatherstripping that reduce drafts and heat gain compared with older units.
Do you replace damaged frames during installation?
When we find rot or damage, we repair or replace the framing and install a full-frame unit. We'll discuss any added cost with you before proceeding.
Is there any charge for the estimate?
No. In-home estimates are free, and there's no obligation to move forward.
