A typical room addition takes about 8 to 16 weeks from groundbreaking to completion. A simple single room on an easily prepared site may finish in 8 to 10 weeks. Larger additions needing new foundations, complex roof tie-ins and full mechanical extensions usually take 12 to 16 weeks. Design and permitting happen before groundbreaking and add time up front.
