Installation Matters

Ridgeland Window and Door Installation Done Right

Two homeowners can buy the same window and get very different results, because so much depends on how it goes into the wall. This page is about the installation side of window and door installation in Ridgeland: the two main replacement methods, the water-management steps that protect your framing, and how warranties work. If you have already picked a product, or want to understand what separates a careful installer from a fast one, start here.

Insert vs. Full-Frame Replacement

Insert (pocket) replacement leaves the existing frame and trim in place and fits a new unit inside it. It is quicker and less disruptive, and works when the old frame is square, dry and solid.

Full-frame replacement removes everything down to the rough opening. It costs more but lets us inspect and repair the framing, add new flashing, and often gain glass area. We recommend it when we find rot, water staining or an out-of-square opening.

Keeping Water Out of the Wall

Central Mississippi gets heavy, wind-driven rain, so every opening needs a path for water to escape. Our process includes:

  1. A sloped sill pan or flashing tape across the sill
  2. Side and head flashing lapped so water sheds outward
  3. Low-expansion foam in the gap to stop air without bowing the frame
  4. Exterior sealant that leaves weep holes clear

Finishing Inside and Out

The last hour of an installation is what you look at every day. Inside, we replace or reset casing, fill nail holes and caulk joints so the trim is ready for paint. Outside, we cap or trim the frame to match the house, whether that is brick mold against brick or new trim against siding. Before we leave, we operate every sash and lock with you and remove all debris and old units from the property.

Doors Need the Same Care

A new entry or patio door must sit level on a sound subfloor with a properly supported threshold. We check for soft subflooring before setting the unit, shim the hinge side solidly and adjust the strike so the door closes with light pressure. That is what keeps weatherstrip sealing year after year.

Benefits You Notice Right Away

  • Quieter rooms and fewer drafts
  • Smoother operation of sashes and locks
  • More comfortable temperatures near the glass
  • Cleaner sightlines with fresh trim
