How Moisture Gets In
- Gaps in caulk and flashing around windows, doors and roof penetrations
- Siding installed without a proper weather-resistive barrier
- Gutters overflowing onto fascia and down the walls
- Humid indoor air condensing in an under-ventilated attic
Give Attic Moisture a Way Out
An attic needs air flowing in low at the soffits and out high at the ridge. Painted-over or blocked soffit vents and too few exhaust vents trap heat and humidity, leading to mold on rafters and premature shingle aging. We open up intake with vented soffit and balance it with ridge or roof vents. See our soffit and fascia repair and installation page.
Repairing Rot the Right Way
We cut out rotted wood until we reach sound material, check the framing behind it, and replace it with materials that resist moisture: fiber cement or PVC trim, treated framing where needed, and primed and sealed edges. Patching over rot with filler and paint just hides it for a season.
Walls That Shed and Dry
When siding is replaced, we install a breathable house wrap and flash every window and door so water that gets behind siding drains out instead of soaking in. Fiber cement and quality vinyl both perform well over a correct wall system. Our Yazoo City roofing services page covers roof-side moisture fixes.
Storm Damage Adds to the Problem
Wind and hail can open gaps that let water in for months before anyone notices. After severe weather, we inspect, document damage for your insurer and seal the house up quickly.
Common Questions
Why does paint keep peeling on my trim?
Repeated peeling usually means moisture is getting into the wood from behind or from the end grain. Fixing the water source and replacing damaged wood is what stops it.
How can I tell if my attic is poorly ventilated?
Signs include a very hot attic in summer, musty smells, dark stains or mold on the underside of the decking, and shingles aging faster than expected.
Do you help with insurance claims for storm damage in Yazoo City?
We document hail and wind damage with photos and measurements and can meet your adjuster. Coverage decisions are made by your insurance company.
What is the best time of year for exterior work here?
Fall and spring usually offer the most stable weather, but repairs that stop active moisture problems should not wait for a perfect season.
